While you're there

Angers, let you tell history through architecture and tapestries!

Angers is a 150.000 inhabitants city, located in the north-western part of France. Cradle of the Plantagenêt dynasty, who gave us great kings and queens, Angers was the historic capital of the "Anjou" region, and the cultural heritage remind us this important period.

Labelled as a "ville d’art et d’histoire", (art and history city), Angers is a pleasant place to stay ant to live in.

Discover the huge château built along the Maine river. Set on neolithic and gallo-roman remains, the construction started during the 13th century. Wow in front of its 17 impressive and forbidding towers, and be touched by the largest medieval "Apocalypse hanging", housed in the building. It measures more than 100 meters and dates back to the 14th century!

Do not miss the St Maurice cathedral, introducing the angevin gothic style in the region. Have a walk in the tiny streets and admire some half-timbered houses.

  • "Mostly blocked train windows"
This was the third trip during a 2 week vacation that I had booked through Rail Europe. Interestingly, the assigned seats for each of the trips were in the middle of the rail car with a mostly blocked window. It was the least favorable seat on the rail car. Why is that? It happened for all 3 trips. Otherwise, each trip sent smoothly and I have no complaints.
  • "Travel with TER"
Very good value/price ratio. It is what I expected.
  • "Nice ride"
After a disastrous first leg of our journey, it was nice to be on a comfortable train with competent staff.
  • "Trip from Paris to Angers"
There was not sufficient luggage storage space on our car. Everything else was fine.
  • "very good"
very punctual time depart and arrived.
  • "First trip by TGV"
This was my first by TGV and I had a very good impression. It was really comfortable and very fast. In my opinion it is little bit expensive to travel by TGV, but those who can afford it should use it.
  • "Further scope for improvement"
I traveled using TGV, I have two suggestions. 1. Include information about how to locate platform no in document which you are providing. Even though task is easy, for new traveler its difficult. 2. Within TGV passenger is not knowing about stations as I can know in Metro. Kindly provide the complete list of all stations from - to location
  • "strike"
you were on strike and i wasnt sure i will have the train as schduled. it was stressful but i didnt need to change plans at the end so all was well
  • "last and next trips"
Dear sir, Thank you for your acceptance of my notes, And which can be summarized as follows: 1 - Travel timing was appropriate. 2 - the transition between the trains at the station was so easy. 3 - display to the movement of trains was up to date . 4 - unfortunately the luggage chamber was small. By the way I have a revaersation from Paris to Monte Carlo on 21/5/2014, a transaction of 123.90 euro was translated on 22/2/2014, card no 0621. Hope to send the e tickets. With my best wishes. • "It’s a very comfortable trip"
the train is on time and comfortable. If possible, should add announcement in English for passengers who do not speak French like me.
  • "close to the customer"
i collected my lugage and walked comfotably 100 meters to the railway station, waited 20 minutes and i was on the train. very good service.
  • "First time on TGV"
The overall experience was good once you get into the train. However the lack of explanation of what to expect was almost paralyzing. No matter how many former travelers tried to prepare us, it was still quite an experience: 1) The last minute waiting for the platform. 2) Trying to estimate where the coach would stop. 3) The distance between the platform and the step was frightening. Since there are so many visitors to France, why not have this explained in different languages - and in English too - or even drawn out in caricature for easy understanding? This can be part of the information given out at the train stations - since so many of those manning the counters do not speak much English.
  • "very good"
It is not easy to find the train because 2 trains departed from the same platform at the same hour. The train manager was not outside the train and I coudn't tell which train is the right one. The train is comfort but there are no electronic signs inside the train which gives information what are the next stops.
  • "Quick and comfortable"
The train was on time, clean and comfortable. People were spread out evenly and so even though it was busy it wasn't cramped. We got there in efficient time and without a problem
  • "Problem with e-ticket (PDF)"
I had a problem with e-ticket. Some texts on e-ticket were not readable (e. g. coach number!), because they overlaped.
