Station / Airport guideAmsterdam Schiphol Airport is located 17 km southwest of the Dutch capital. It is the fourth largest airport in Europe, with over 100 airlines flying to over 200 destinations. There are train connections to major cities: NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen – Dutch Railways) and NS high speed operate intercity and high-speed train (HST) from the Schiphol Station to travel across the Netherlands and through Europe with Thalys for France or ICE International for Germany. Within less than 4 hours, departing from The Schiphol station, you can discover the major cities and touristic destinations across The Netherlands (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Leiden) and Europe (such as Brussels, Paris or Berlin).
Transportation and connections
NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen – Dutch Railways) and NS Hispeed operate intercity and high-speed train (HST) from the Schiphol Station to travel across the Netherlands and through Europe with Thalys for France or ICE International for Germany.
The Schiphol station, located directly beneath the airport under Schiphol Plaza, offers connection to “Amsterdam Central Station” downtown Amsterdam every 10 minutes, with an average journey time of 15-20 minutes. From Amsterdam Central Station, discover the city by tram or boat with a canal tour.
Public buses run regularly to Amsterdam and other cities. Bus 197 and bus 370 (interliner) run to Amsterdam city centre and Amsterdam Zuid. Buses depart from platform A7, in front of the Arrivals hall 2.
Taxi stands: Schiphol Travel Taxis are available from outside Schiphol Plaza (journey time into Amsterdam: 15 minutes).
