Split, you will be unable to resist
Smooth and sultry Split is backed by mountains and blessed with a glinting Adriatic waterfront. Centred around the 1,800-year old Roman palace that forms the thrilling heart of this unique oasis, its Splicani inhabitants enjoy life to the full.
As the second largest city of Croatia, Split and its peninsula are a boiling heart of the country. Founded by the Greeks during the 6th century BC, Split really connected with fame when the Roman Emperor Diocletian built his palace there during the 4th century AD.
Soon belonging to the Byzantine Empire, Split’s History later dealt with the Venetian Republic, the Kingdom of Croatia, and eventually Italy and Austria in its more recent times. Since the year 2000, Split did develop a great deal thanks to tourism.
It became a center of Croatian culture and also sport, from the cathedral of Saint Domnius, symbol of the city, up to the Spaladium Arena.
